Have You Tried Hard Enough?

Mattias and Noah resting in Dad’s finished work.

For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

Romans 10:3

In order to be right before God, we need to submit. Not try harder.

Submission is peace and rest. Trying harder is angst and stress.

Have you ever thought, “I just need to try harder.” Then failed again?

Perhaps effort is not the problem. Perhaps it is submission.

About Peter Wiebe

.My name is Peter Wiebe. I am a husband and father of 4 boys-the oldest of which has gone ahead of us to Heaven after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 10. As the name of this blog implies, I desire to write stories about heroes. Jesse loved hero stories, and I would love nothing more than to write stories that I think he would want to read. Hero stories , whether real or fictional, can inspire us to live more nobly in our own daily lives. Plus, I am personally grieved at how many heroes in books and film today are portrayed as many different shades of gray-no moral compass. I am not advocating heroes without flaws, but heroes who recognize their flaws and acknowledge and work on overcoming them. I think of the great Bible heroes like David, Sampson, and Joshua just to name a few. I think also of the Hero of heroes, who indeed has no flaws. Jesus is the ultimate inspiration for us all. The best qualities of any hero always point to Him. Peter Wiebe 2013

ah yes, summer, sunshine. i remember that. it is a great picture! and i think the key to all our struggles. being still and knowing that He is God. how wonderful Jesus is, if only we take the time to know Him. Jesus, Bible, me. quiet. full stop. until He decides to plow up more ground and wait for me to learn it again. Jesus, Bible, me.

Peter, I have a friend I met when our boys were in the hospital. Over the years she has been teaching me God’s word. Your post is so simple, but because I understand what it means, is also so powerful.

The power of the gospel is in its simplicity, isn’t it? At least, that is how I have found it to be-a simple matter of faith. When I say simple, I certainly don’t mean easy though.
